Guides -> Share a document safely
Share a payslip, lease, or ID safely
Short answer: When someone asks for one number on a document, you usually end up sending all of it. Open the file in Safemii, black out everything they don't need - and the hidden text is actually removed, not just covered - then send the clean copy. It all happens on your phone.
A payslip, bank statement, or ID has lots of details on it. Most of the time, the person only needs one.
What to black out
- Full account, card, or ID numbers (leave only what's needed)
- Your home address
- Salary or balance figures
- Anyone else's details on the page
Do it in a few taps
- Open the document or photo of it in Safemii.
- Black out every part they don't need.
- Save and send the clean copy.
Why "covered" isn't enough
Drawing a black box in many apps leaves the real text sitting underneath - easy to copy out or uncover. Safemii deletes it from the file, so what you send is genuinely clean. More on this: redact a PDF.
Before you send the clean copy
- Open the saved copy, not the original.
- Try searching for the name, number, or word you removed.
- Check hidden details such as author name, comments, forms, and attachments.
- Send only the pages or sections the other person actually needs.
Common questions
Can I leave the last four digits visible?
Yes, if the person only needs a partial number. Black out the rest and make sure the hidden text is removed from the saved copy.
Should I clean a document before uploading it to AI?
Yes. Remove names, numbers, addresses, and hidden file data first, then upload only the clean copy if you still need to use AI.
What if the document is a photo?
Black out visible details and remove hidden photo info too. A photo of a document can still carry location data.
